At Cityview, we believe membership in a local church is vitally important, a weighty and wonderful commitment.

Because of that, we feel the process by which a person becomes a member of a church should be thorough and engaging, so that those who make the commitment of Covenant Membership fully understand the benefits and responsibilities of local church membership.

Cityview provides everyone seeking to join a chance to get to know our story, ask questions, acquire essential information, and meet with church leaders as a part of the membership process. It is also one of the best way to meet other people and learn how to get connected.

Tour the City

Tour the City

As a first step towards making Cityview your home, join us for an evening hosted by our pastors as you “tour” Cityview’s history, mission, vision and values.

Baptism

Baptism is intended only for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and can give sufficient testimony to the basics of Christian beliefs. We baptize by immersion because it is not only the original significance of the word but also best symbolizes the reality to which baptism points—our death and resurrection in Christ. If you have not been baptized following salvation, we ask you to take this step before becoming a Covenant Member. We offer a class annually for those who have questions about baptism. The class covers the biblical significance of baptism and frequently asked questions, and gives you an opportunity to share your testimony. If you’d rather, you can schedule a meeting with Brandon or Kyle to discuss baptism too.

Covenant Membership Class

As you think about making a decision to join the church, we offer a class that covers what it means to be a Covenant Member, as well as our mission, basic beliefs and theological distinctives. We want you to know exactly what it means to join and what is required when you do before asking you to make a decision. We also require prospective members to read Jonathan Leeman’s book Church Membership.

Membership Covenant

The last step of membership is to meet with several members of the Membership Committee for final questions and to sign the Membership Covenant and Application.

Covenant Renewal

Every year our Covenant Members go through Covenant Membership Renewal. This process gives them the opportunity to update their personal information, make needs known and give feedback, review our church’s Membership Covenant and renew their Covenant Membership.
